The work of the Taylor Family Trust

The just-ended Christmas holiday period was truly the Season for Giving when several initiatives of The Taylor Family trust for Grenada came together over the last few weeks.

The charitable trust fund was established in 2007 by Earleen Taylor (of Grenadian parentage) and her husband Paul, both key investors in Levera Resort Development Project.

The commitment of the Trust is to assist in increasing the standard of living and enhancing the general quality of life of Grenadians.

The Taylors and family, plus, Trustees, friends and many volunteers hosted a party for children from the North of the Island, including communities such as Pearls, Victoria, River Sallee, Rose Hill and Levera.

The party was at the Levera Clubhouse, where all enjoyed treats galore - lunch, games, music, face painting and a visit to Santa.

The Trust was also busy across the Island, when volunteers traveled to various distribution points to give out 140 Christmas Hampers to needy families in each of the Island's Parishes, as well as Carriacou and Petit Martinique.

The Trust worked in close collaboration with the Ministry of Social Development to gather the names of families in each of these areas, who were nominated to receive the Christmas fare.

As a personal "thank you" to everyone involved in the Trust's Mattress Programme, the Taylors also hosted a lunch at the Victory Bar & Grill, Port Louis Marina.

This EC$200,000 project has seen the donation of 452 mattresses and bed frames to over one hundred groups, homes and individuals throughout the Tri-Island State.

One of the main goals of the Trust is to help the development of the people of Grenada for the greater good of the country, and the key areas in which the Trust is concentrating to achieve this are as follows: to assist in enhancing the facilities in institutions which care for needy children; to promote the advancement of education among citizens of Grenada; to provide support in caring for the elderly and infirm; to assist in the alleviation of poverty; and to provide other support and assistance consistent with this charitable purpose.

Mrs. Taylor says that she looks forward to undertaking more projects through the Trust during 2010 and to continue to achieve goals set.
