Fund Set up to Aid Less Fortunate
A one million dollar charitable trust fund aimed at increasing the standard of living on the island has been launched by the promoters of the multimillion dollar Levera Development Project in St.
Patrick’s.
The Taylor Family Trust Fund for Grenada was made public last week Wednesday at a ceremony held at Cave House in Lance Aux Epines by the pioneers Earleen Taylor and her husband
Paul.
Earleen said that although she was born in the United Kingdom, she lived and schooled in Grenada for sometime before returning to the place of her birth seeing higher education and employment
opportunities.
She stated that her family is now motivated by a desire to give something back to the Grenadian community, out of the belief that the country’s future lies with the education of its young
people.
She disclosed that the initial one million dollars seeded into the Fund will be overseen by a Board of Directors consisting of herself as Chairperson, her husband as well as Joseph
McSween, Margaret McSween, Lyden Ramdhanny, Rupert John, Darnley Charles and Rosetta Weston as
Secretary.
Although the Fund will be made available to every Grenadian who qualifies, emphasis will be placed on persons from St. Patrick’s where the Levera Project is located.

The fund will be used primarily to
“assist in enhancing the facilities in institutions which care the
needy children; promote the advancement of education among citizens of
Grenada; provide support in caring for the elderly and infirm; assist
in the alleviation of poverty; and help in providing other social
services in Grenada.
According to Mrs. Taylor, special emphasis will be placed on
supporting the education of young people on the island and that a
number of local business leaders have already made contributions
towards the Fund.
She said that her family’s goal is to create a long term legacy to
Grenada and its people, particularly residents of St. Patrick’s
where her parents are originally from.
She noted that over the years both she and her husband have been major
supporters of the Save the Children Fund and the main sponsors of the
Funds annual fundraising event know as “The Festival of Trees”.
The Taylor’s also support Cancer Research; Click Sergeant (another
cancer charity); Help the aged and the Sickle Cell Society and are
actively involved in an educational support project for
underperforming children in urban schools.
